So, I was watching an old re-run of The Rockford Files one day last week, and the special guest villian was none other than the legendary fone phreak, Cap'n Crunch (although they insisted on mis-pronouncing it "Captain Crunch"). Anyone else catch that episode (from back in the seventies, I think)?

Yeah, that's what surprized me. I didn't realize the ol' Cap was that famous that long ago. I thought he came along in the eighties...

I've definitely heard of that show, I might of even
watched it, but I can't remember too much. Was it anything
like Dragnet? Or was it more Unsolved Mysteries (with Robert
Stack)?

I would say that it was a prime time action/crime show.

Jim Rockford was a private eye, and hung out with his dad often, and he drove a neat looking car.

A no-nonsense, average guy type, that often got the short end of the stick.

I am sure Terry can fill you in even more.

All I know about it is that it's the only viable alternative to soap-operas in the 12pm - 1pm time slot, so I end up watching it sometimes. Oh yeah, and his car is a vintage (new then) Pontiac Firebird. I dunno how kewl it is tho, considering how many times it's been wrecked or otherwise abused.

Sounds like the sorta thing Bogart would have done well
at.

That's funny you should mention that, cause that's
the sorta time slot that had for it here.
