I'm about to pick up a free IBM PS/2 55SX that I'm sure needs some work. So far I know it's missing a hard drive, and I don't believe they came like that, so it must be broken. The thing I'm kinda hung up on is the MCA slots. If possible I'd like to get an SCSI controller as well as an ethernet card, I'm sure they made these items at one time but are they possible to find anymore? How about RAM for these systems? Is this stuff that I have any hope of tracking down?

Let me do some digging. I've ditched a lot of MCA stuff over the years, but I might have a scsi card or two around.

I just got a bunch of PS/2 systems in and I have some extra RAM.

1st you will need a reference disk:

ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/refdisks/rf5565a.exe

You will probably need a new CMOS battery (the 55sx has those hard to find RTC chips, DALLAS DS1287). If its dead and you want to rework it look here:

http://www.mcamafia.de/mcapage0/dsrework.htm

I think they came standard with an oddball ESDI HD so you will need a MCA SCSI card to use common SCSI HDs.
