quantumechanic,

I live in Chattanooga and would be interested in some of the equipment you listed. I don't have enough room for everything, but I'd be happy to help anyone who doesn't live close enough to pick up something they want to get it shipped.

Send me a private message on the board or email me at thosmm att yahoo dott com.

Regards,
Tom

I would not mind some boxed DOS/Windows 3.1 software for my collection, if you can ship media mail.

Tachyon are you going to pay that person a visit?

Yes. I'm hoping we can make arrangements for me to head down to pick up a few things. If anyone needs me to pick something up, let me know.

On my list of things I'm interested in are:

IBM 5150 (PC)
IBM AT
Compaq Portable 2
Zenith EasyPC
ISA cards of various types
MFM Hard Drives

If he needs to get stuff out of his house immediately, I can load my car with as much extra stuff as will fit.

I hope you drive a big SUV, your list alone looks like it will take up alot of space.

:D

Any boxed software of the DOS/Windows 3.1 era would be cool. But if he has more then you can fit here is what I would prefer:

engineering/scientific/mathematical software/CAD
xtreegold (both dos and windows), norton desktop, os/2 stuff
dos games
graphics software
programming languages of any kind

The plan is that I'm going to go to Atlanta next Wednesday to pick up what I can get from quantumechanic's before they move and take what I can't get to a thrift store, etc.

If you see something specific that you want and are willing to pay shipping after I get it to Chattanooga, I'll add it to what I'm bringing for my collection.

I can fit quite a bit of stuff in my car and unless there is a lot of stuff I want that he hasn't listed, I'll be able to get about a 'seat' worth of stuff for others.

I'll take pictures of the vintage gear and my car dragging the ground.

Yep, you need to get in the habit of checking dates on posts. Think I have been screwed up by the "super old thread" thing more than once.

Hi quantumechanic,

Could you please tell me what expansion cards are installed in the AT&T PC 6300 ? There is a small (yet real) chance that it might have one or two cards in there that I happen to be looking for.

Thanks. :)

Impressive collection, by the way. I hope it will all end up in caring hands.

Hi quantumechanic, . . .
Are you joking? Or do you really think that someone who has posted twice, the last time being September 7th, 2004 04:35 PM, is still checking this thread? I suppose that's possible but ...

It'll throw a few folks off now that the thread looks active. I'd say they're long gone but you can always try the email option in the event the user forgot the name of the site or post. (Assuming they add an email address to their account which in this case they didn't).

Another thing would be to click on the user name to see their profile and you can see their last login time.

Oops, I guess that was indeed a bit of a gaffe...

This thread came up under "New Posts", and the most recent reactions were indeed very recent, and I always begin by reading the opening post, but I overlooked its date, and never bothered checking how old the thread actually was. Sorry for the confusion.

Good to know I'm not alone in these occasional mistakes.

Heh, I suddenly realized that this thread was actually started years before I even joined these Forums! :D
