My buddy Joe at the bookstore ran across this gem, a field manual for "Digital Computers." It tells how to translate from all sorts of mechanical "analog" machines to electronic "digital" ones.

It's so detailed you could almost build a complete one! Talks about the Pascal machine, the Babbage, even the Abacus. It talks about the different kinds of memory basic construction using toroid cores, twisted using foil tape and all kinds of neat stuff.

Does anyone else have one of these? I'm guessing this one turned up cause of being so close to Ft. Bliss. It's in pretty rough shape but still readable, and you can tell it's been to the field quite a few times.

Next task, plastic baggie for it to keep it in the shape its in. This way the drill sargeant won't yell at me :)
