Gamasutra has released the fourth of nine bonus chapters not found in our book, Vintage Games: An Insider Look at the History of Grand Theft Auto, Super Mario and the Most Influential Games of All Time (http://www.amazon.com/dp/0240811461?tag=armcharcad-20&camp=14573&creative=327641&linkCode=as1&creativeASIN=0240811461&adid=0PCX9WTV7BGY7PSNXTF0&). The new bonus chapter is called, Elite: Space, The Endless Frontier (http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/3983/the_history_of_elite_space_the_.php), and like the other bonus and in-book chapters covers not only the title game, but discusses those games that influenced it, what it influenced, and the genre in general. You can read more about the book at its main page (http://www.armchairarcade.com/neo/node/2214), where you'll also find links to the other online bonus chapters and well over 100 online bonus images not found anywhere else. The next bonus chapter will be on Rogue and will be released May 2009. Enjoy!

Just curious. Are you all thinking about release a second edition of the book or anything that will include these extra chapters/images?

A wonderful idea - a hardcover full color book with all 34 chapters and 600+ images. However, it's financially impractical, particularly for the publisher (and they're a big one), so it is unlikely there will ever be a "special" or "anniversary" edition. The economics say that people won't buy a $50 book on videogames, which is why the book is 420+ pages at $23 (when discounted at places like Amazon). It's still a great book - soft cover and full glossy color throughout - even if I do say so myself, and I certainly have not heard any comments from anyone that anything feels like it's "missing". It was written in such a way that those online chapters are truly bonus chapters and the images are bonus images, not found either in the book or the online chapters.

Well cool. Yeah, I do know your point behind the book prices. It's a hard sell now adays for the seller and buyers.
