View Full Version : Unknown IBM keypad...

About a year ago, if not more, someone published a thread about modding a serial (?) IBM keypad. The problem is, I can't find the thread anymore and I have no idea what that keypad model was. All I know is it wasn't a regular numeric keypad (more keys) and it had to be modded to work with a PC... help me remember, anyone? :)

I know it was discussed at length on cctalk. You might try that archive.

Is it possible you are referring to a an IBM PC5271 keyboard? There is a photo and diagram for the keyboard adapter at http://www.seasip.info/VintagePC/5271.html
There is another diagram at http://www.ibmmuseum.com/david/3270PC/3270PCKC.gif

It's not really a full keyboard, just a big keypad :) One of the forum members actually did the mod.

I think you're talking about the IBM 6094-020 LPFK (Lighted Programmable Function Keys). There was a lot of discussion of this back in 2007 on cctalk. Someone actually figured out the protocol.

It was none other than our own Mike Brutman. His page on the LPFK (http://brutman.com/IBM_LPFK/IBM_LPFK.html)

I noticed there's an ebay seller selling black units brand new but they appear to have different part numbers? Do you know anything about it?
