I have some old QIC-80 tapes on which I have some stuff backed up onto, but I had password protected them. And, of course, I can't remember the password. Would anyone know of a way to defeat the password protection on these tapes? I can't imagine that it would be difficult logistically, but due to the fringe nature of the product these days, it just hasn't been implemented.

Tried searching Google, apparently to no avail.

Thanks.

I have the same problem with a win95 backup... hopefully any answer you receive will help me too!

Good luck to both of us! :D

If you have the time, you could use a program like auto-it (http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/index.shtml), to brute force the password.

It allows you to write a small script (in a BASIC style language), that can enter strings into dialogs, simulate mouse clicks, look for titles on windows.
