It's an IBM, but WHO made it, is this a rare one?

Can't tell you from those pictures, but any full-height IBM floppy drive is rare IMO. They can go for a fair bit on eBay too (~$80).

I'd bet Shugart.

I've got 4 of them, 2 CMI, 1 Tandon, then this guy, No manufacturer marks, wouldn't be surprised it if was shugart make, that would make it the rarest of them wouldn't it?

I had the Shugart SSDD model and this isn't it. This looks very late in the line, perhaps used by IBM closer to 1987.

O&A lists 3 drive models and none matches this one. What are the date codes on the ICs?

All the chips date from late 83 to early 84. The mainboard it's paired to is a 1984 64kb-256kb pc xt
the main ic is a TI chip.

What's the part number on the TI chip? I see a crystal near it, which seems to indicate that it's a microcontroller. This is like no Shugart that I've ever seen.
