Beware the free sites. As we found out the hard way on the CPCzone
Forum, the site went down & many Thousands of posts & reviews were
deleted.

Or, they start out being free, then after they have enough people "hooked", they are "forced" to start charging for their services (and if you don't want your forum to disappear, you must pay).

Ayep. There used to be a bunch of free NNTP servers (for Usenet News). One by one, the sites change their policy and ask for a small fee. At first, it is a one time fee, then it changes into a yearly or monthly fee. While I understand the costs associated with having some service, it is rather sneaky to first claim a free service and less than one year later start charging. It'd be better to limit the number of users in that case, if there is a problem that the service became too popular.

Homestead started out giving away free website hosting then after a while they locked everyone out of their websites with a message on the sign in screen that they had to start paying for hosting if they wanted to keep their sites. It was a shame because thye had a really sweet website editor that was so easy to use. You didn't need to know any code at all. You just drag and dropped your graphics files and entered your text and links and the software did the rest. :-(
