Had to pass this on, I have been playing HALO for PC and this is just cool, from Ed Fries, even!

http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/166916-halo-for-the-2600-released-at-cge-download-the-game-here/

That's a thread at atariage, but if you google search for "halo for 2600" a LOT of folks are covering it.

I had a 2600 as a kid, not really interested in Halo, but I have to admire the programming effort, that I did enjoy reading.

That is WAY too cool.
Can't wait to see the fan cartridge releases.

Makes me wanna dust of my Supercharger and finally learn how to create WAVs from BIN files so I can play on my 2600!

They made a cart for the CGE convention but they all sold out and they were an exclusive run-- though I am lobbying for an enhanced 7800 version for the upcoming 7800 Expansion Unit.

I downloaded this when the post showed up, but didn't end up playing it until a few minutes ago - that's pretty awesome.

You could always get one of those flash carts and play it on real hardware that way - the type that uses an EEPROM that you burn, or the type that takes some sort of modern flash media (though I don't know if they make the latter for Atari 2600)..

Well, it turns out that it will be for sale at the atariage store for $25 shipped in the USA so I can get one of those. Right now it's preorder and I have to fix the fuel pump on my car (go figure). The label will be different than all the pics from CGE, but will still be cool. I think I will make my own box :)

iirc someone did make a flash cart for the 2600, the Croc cart I think, but they are rare, it was a limited run.

Definitely a fun game.

You're thinking about the Cuttle Cart (http://schells.com/cuttlecart.shtml) - I first ran across this in 2005, and they were long sold out. Sucks that no one else has picked up the fabrication of those units. They also made a Cuttle Cart 2, (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=2&ved=0CBkQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.schells.com%2Fcc2.shtml&ei=IM1aTJL-FoT58AaS4OTkAg&usg=AFQjCNHkXaGEVae1ufR--YpLTHtom2tXdA) which was again long sold out by the time I ran across it :) This is why I tracked down a Starpath Supercharger, (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CBcQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FStarpat h_Supercharger&ei=fM1aTK3IGIKC8gbb7d32Ag&usg=AFQjCNGm5uBsQ2ZiuZseHirrNx1-YybqGQ) because it can easily load ROM images, (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=6&ved=0CCsQFjAF&url=http%3A%2F%2Fmembers.cox.net%2Frcolbert%2Fscho okup.htm&ei=fM1aTK3IGIKC8gbb7d32Ag&usg=AFQjCNHDA3x5o5BE6h4kBqqnrDh8bBHV_Q) essentially becoming a flash cart for the Atari 2600.

Thankfully, I found it on eBay around 2006 with two games for $26 shipped. I'd be extremely lucky to find one so priced now!

Right, the Cuddle Carts, I had a feeling I was remembering wrong. That was definitely a score, that Supercharger, and you're right they go for a lot more these days.

There was a preorder time at atariage and I guess all the carts got bought, because it's over now. I am on the list for the next run.

There's plenty of hardware laying around here, I might dabble with making an SD cart for it and load up all kinds of roms. There have got to be plans out there somewhere for one.

If you find said plans be sure to let us know. If you're capable of building them as you indicate, perhaps you should consider selling some to members here? xD

If I can, I will happily trade them out for whatever :) Maybe money, maybe something else. Homebrew FTW!

For those who need an Atari 2600 flash/multicart, the Harmony Cart (http://harmony.atariage.com/) is still available...

NICE!!! - I had no idea that another 2600 flash cart had been made available!! Only $59 too... man... I guess I need to put in some more OT at work - this would be MUCH easier than using my Supercharger! Not that I've any plans to get rid of that, fwiw :)

Right, the Cuddle Carts

LOL!

It's "Cuttle", like Cuttlefish. :D
http://schells.com/cuttlecart.shtml

And the CC2 is for the 7800.

I missed out on buying one from a mix of factors. I bought a Supercharger about the time the CC came out, plus there was another, similar card in the works. On top of that, I blew my hobby budget on something else right about that time. I should have got one, and the CC2. I would have come up with the money to get by somewhere and I'd still have both today.

(I was the relunctant maintainer of the Stella list FAQ back when it came out.)

Thanks for the chuckle, hope you don't mind. :)
