View Full Version : Apple /// Heat Related Disk Problems

This is unlike my other posts because it isn't a question, and it doesn't require an answer. Last week, after using my /// for about 2-3 hours, I was trying to load Apple Writer /// and sure enough the metal wheel that was supposed to run the drive belt from the motor, to the shaft which spins the diskette fell out, and dropped onto the bottom of the case. And it happened two times yesterday as well. Its a pretty simple fix: all you have to do is unscrew the two silver screws on either side of the drive light (on the aluminum base). And take the drive out of the computer, pop the wheel back on there, slip the belt on and you're good to go.

The tricky part is getting the screws in and out. I simply used elmers school glue (available at all stores, even convenience and grocery stores) and spread a little on the screwdriver, and the washer, and pressed the the screw to the screwdriver, and the washer to the screw for about 10-15 seconds. Then, I simply was able to screw the in vertically.
