View Full Version : Powerbook 100 'white' screen

Hey guys,

Pulled out my PB 100. It's been sitting for a while. I remember it always gets a bit cranky after sitting and this time was no exception -- when I plugged it in for power (battery is long dead) I got a crackling noise. After plugging/unplugging a couple times, the screen lit up. Still no chime or anything though.

Finally I hit the reset button and power button a few times... got a chime, and the hard drive powered up and sounded like it was booting. Seems like the machine is working, except the screen.. which is lit up, but nothing appears on it. Now, I recall from back when that I had trouble with the brightness control on this working properly. Turning the knob does nothing at all. If I turn the contrast, it goes entirely light or dark as I go. I'm figuring maybe just the brightness is messed up? Any idea how I could fix or get around that?

Any tips are much appreciated.

It's well known that the Powerbook 100 has caps that leak with age. They all have to be replaced.
