View Full Version : Macintosh II no power

Drat! When I put this thing away it was working fine, but after a few years in the closet, my Mac II has decided to remain asleep. I tried the power buttons of course, and checked the two batteries inside (one is at 3.6v, the other around 3.3v). Nothing else I can do I suppose? Probably bad PSU or logic board?

Switch the batteries, the 3.3V is running low (make sure the + and - are correct or it won't work either). One battery is for booting the other for storing PRAM.

I was afraid you'd say that... I wish Apple hadn't soldered them to the mainboard. I'm assuming batteries like these are what I'm after:

If you don't have the battery holder upgrade then you need the PRAM batteries with the axial leads and those need soldered in.
