Uhhhh

a Palm III is vintage?

Somewhere in the last year I stopped using my US Robotics Palmpilot (yes, 128K, that one..) because I found it annoying it would not sync with Outlook (at work).

I replaced it by a Palm III (no, not 'x', the basic 2 MB version)- what you mean, I'm outdated?

:| :roll:

No, I would never say anyone is outdated. There is no such thing. I'm just a little more modern oriented that most of the others here. Like I take notes with my Palm Tungsten E. I am thinking about getting the Palm III though....

too bad that you are so far away, I'd be happy to trade you something much more recent for your old one. ;)

@vlad: just kidding ofcourse...

Well.. our IT department just announced they will only support company owned HP handhelds in the future, so my PAlm III is at risk of being obsolete too.

The USR Palmpilot- well, its sitting on my shelf, I think I consider it part of my vintage collection- but I'm not doing anything with it. I'm a bit in doubt if I would part with it, but I might- knowing it will get a good home.
It should be possible to ship it- I still got the original box and stuff (maybe I should send in the registration card and see what happens :D)

Jorg - I'm interested in arranging a trade for that USR palmpilot. I collect retro computers, so you can pretty well rest assured your palmpilot will be in good hands.
Also, could you post some pics please?

thanks.

I can definitely identify with the "use new stuff, collect old stuff" perspective. My daily PDA is a Treo 650 (which is also my daily cell phone, digital camera, MP3 player, and GPS)... but as many of you know I collect vintage handhelds for fun.

I last documented the history of PDAs back in May 2005 with a few very minor updates since then. It's almost time for another big update. Anyway, if ya'll missed it last summer, the site is http://www.snarc.net/pda/pda-treatise.htm ... LOL read that and THEN re-evaluate those Newtons and Palm IIIs as "vintage" ... you just might feel different! :)

This has been a shameless commercial message. ;)

Ah well....

I might as well through out an update too. I no longer user the Tungsten E as a PDA. It's going to live out its life as a Ir remote to everything. Including the fan.

I now use a Hewlett Packard (HP even though I'm probably the only person who doesin't write it as HP) Jornada 720. I love it! Keyboard and all. (Palmtop) I always wanted one of the Jornadas, but when they first came out, man they were expensive. I got mine from a refurb company who were selling them at a nice price.
