Hello everyone,

Just registered here to ask for some advice on a computer I currently have a Power Macintosh 5500/275 which is the black Directors edition with a 4GB hard drive. It works perfectly.

I was just wondering about the value of this computer and if it is considered a collectors item? Information on it's value seem to be hard to come by, but there is one on eBay right now. From what I have read they are quite rare, if anyone wants to make any offers please do, the computer is located in North East Lincolnshire in the UK.

It runs Mac OS B1 - 8.1.

Any information will be much appreciated.

Thanks
Rory

Value is hard to determine just on active auctions, you can certainly do a few searches and find some that have sold over time to assess at least what a few folks thought they were worth. I'm sure the director edition/color makes it less common and it may fetch more than a regular powermac to a collector if the right one is found.

In the MidAtlantic region of the USA, this computer is worth less than the cost to ship, or just about break even because of the colored case, so I'd suggest trying to sell locally if the same pricing applies to your area. It's a nice machine, I like them for what they are, but you're not going to get many takers.

To the general public, I don't know the exact value, but to me, It's worth a lot. I've always wanted one of tose all-in-one Macs.
