I found these digging through stuff in the basement. "How to Get Started with Your IBM PC" and "How to Use Software on Your IBM PC". These were put out by DELTAK Microsystems on 3/4" Umatic tape and are copyright 1982, 1983. How to use that brand new 5150.

The originals look a bit funky, but I have a VHS copy from 20 years ago so I made a DVD and some DIVX AVI files just to keep for the next 20 years. I can maybe post the AVIs somewhere if someone has a home for them. :)

This would be the perfect home for those AVIs:

I may try both. I'm thinking they are about 350mb each. Either way, I'll upload them from the public library's wireless access, in case the copyright police come looking. :)

I would love to see those. AVI, mov, mp4 whatever you decide would be fantastic!

I'm driving my friends and family crazy with my 5150 because they can't run any programs on it simply because there is no mouse and little pictures to click on. I just look at them and laugh. It really is pathetic. My wife is learining how to use DOS because I got her a nice 5160 for her B-day. She loves it.

These would be great for the web site I'm building and hope to have running soon. Can you get me copies?

She must really really... REALLY love you to still stay with you after that b-day.

After she saw my 5150, and some of the things I was doing with it, she wanted one so she can play some of her favorite vintage games. Well, I got her the XT from Hargle and she's been using it every day. Hargle put so many games on the 20 Meg hard drive that it will take her a year to go through them all.

And, one of the reasons I decided to marry her is that she's almost a bigger geek than I am. So, yeah, she loves me. She loves the XT and she loves the fact that I got one for her.

So what's the problem?

Sure, if I send you a disk, then I won't have to upload 700mb with my cell phone. :)

I worked for Deltak from 1978 through their halcyon days of the early 80s, producing these videos. If you have any questions, (about the vids and not the 5150), I can probably answer them.

That's great someone still has a copy. Digitizing them before the magnetics decay was a great idea. I hope to watch the videos one day as well!
