I finally took some time to review the Texas Instruments TM990/189 SBC. I am trying to decide what to demo at the Vintage Computer Festival Mid-west, so I thought I'd mess with the TI990-189 to see if it had zazz enough to exhibit.

Nice system. Ran some simple programs to add numbers in hex.

Speaking of TMS9900 chips and TI 990 series minis, does anyone know of a 990/10A system in existence?

I only have that one. I sold my 990/101, but I assume that's not the 10A. http://vintagecomputer.net/ti/TI-990-101/

The 10A had memory management hardware that allowed for expansion to about 2MB (IIRC) of memory.

If someone wants to experiment with 990 programming, one can pick up any of the TMS430 devits (cheap!). It's not binary compatible, nor does it use workspace pointers, but otherwise the instruction set is very similar.

Oh, interesting! Do you know if there's any schematics out there for this? I'd kind of like to put a 9900-based computer together with some of the stuff I have on hand...

Schematics, BOM, datasheets, you name it. (http://bitsavers.informatik.uni-stuttgart.de/pdf/ti/tm990-189/1602004-9701_990-189_UG_79.pdf)
