I got a board in today that contained several interesting components. Among other things, it contained a white ceramic Fairchild F8 series 38503, which research shows to be a static memory interface for the F8 family, and a TR1602 UART. There was another white ceramic Fairchild IC, bearing the number SL31107. It's in exactly the same white ceramic with side-brazed gold lead 40-pin DIP as the 38503, and bears the same Fairchild F. It's datecode is 7648 (48th week of 1976). Does anyone have a Fairchild databook for that year and/or know what a SL31107 is?

I'm going to guess that the "SL3xxxx" parts refer to custom-fabbed Fairchild support chips with non-standard port/interrupt addresses. I can find a mention of a SL31116, which was a F3852 with nonstandard port addresses.

I don't guess there's much hope for finding a pinout, then. Oh well, it's still a neat looking chip! Thanks for the information.
