I have a 1988 Macintosh IIcx computer and when i push and hold the power button on the back of the computer, the power supply makes a ticking noise every one seconds and the monitor has a white screen with thin black lines(note it has a video card). some people tolled me it was the hard drive but if i take out the hard drive the same thing happened. i think its the 3.6V battery has gone bad. i need some help it was my first mac and has some cool games on it!

PS. cant find where the battery on the mother board is.

The Pram battery is located on the board, near the power supply if memory serves.. the IIcx should boot with a dead pram battery.. If ya need parts shoot me a PM, i got a spare IIci that has a good PSU in it..

The battery is below the floppy and hard drives. You have to remove the power supply first, then remove the bracket that holds the drives. The battery is on the motherboard below.

You might have a bad power supply. Power supply failures is pretty common on these.
