Hello, some guy here just said about a NCR53C400 based scsi 8bit controller, he have 3, should I buy? Will be too complicated to use a scsi HD in a 8088 clone?

Thanks!

The problem is finding the bootable ones. There are tons of 8 bit SCSI cards used for external scanners and whatever that are pretty much useless since they are not bootable.

Look for an EPROM or a ROM on the board containing its own bios.

A lot of 53C400 cards were sold without ROMs (without associated components also) as early CD-ROM interfaces.

Bear in mind that a large number of these old cards will not boot a drive larger than 1GB even if they do have ROMs.

Thanks to everyone, the card didn't have a ROM.

Problem solved!

See ya!
