Hallo allemaal,

Towards the end of a XT ROM you find 0400h bytes needed for displaying characters on a CGA card when in graphical mode. My question: is this set also needed when using a VGA card?

TIA!

It just occured to me that VGA cards have their own interrupt routines and therefore their own routine to write characters in graphical mode. Plus the fact that the VGA characterset isn't 8*8 pixels. A conformation of this thought is appreciated!

Not only that, but VGA cards have their own ROM. Note also, that both EGA and VGA cards allow fonts to be uploaded even for text (non graphic) modes.
