Hello All,

I'm a newby to the 800xl and am trying to learn how to make real diskettes from disk images to boot on the 800xl.

I believe I have successfully connected my SIO2PC with USB interface to my Windows 7 computer and the atari 800xl.

I've used Prosystem 3.0.6 to make a real disk. The process appears to complete succesfully. I've also used APE, to map drive 2 to an .ATR image and used the program mycopyr! to copy the image to a real disk in drive 1. This also completes succesfully.

The disks boot, and seem to load, the instead of the graphics screen I expect, I get screens of characters as in the attached photos. I can hear the music playing with one of the games, so the program appears to be running.

I tried a different 800xl with the same results.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Hmm.. It worked for me (http://www.classic-computers.org.nz/blog/2011-12-27-disk-from-images-atari-8bit.htm) using APE but then I used Windows XP. I'm not sure if that's a significant difference. I suspect not. Are you using double-density floppies or high density ones? I suspect the latter won't work.

Was the different Atari using the same drive? If so, could it be a drive problem?

LOL. Did you hold down the option key to disable BASIC?

The programs you've downloaded are for PAL or NTSC and you have the opposite type monitor. Try another program.

Good Call Firebottle! Right on the money! The images work great now.

I'd hoped it was something silly like that. Not being an Atari user I had no idea I had to do that!

Thanks for the help guys!
