Hi,

I'm wanting to add an external SCSI drive to my recently acquired Apple IIGS (http://www.classic-computers.org.nz/blog/2012-09-02-appleIIGS-lives-again.htm). I have the card, an external SCSI drive case with PSU AND an old 40MB drive ex. a Mac Classic II I had lying around.

However, one thing I don't have is information on the jumpers on the drive. Does anyone have a manual or know what the settings are. The Drive is an IBM WDS-L42C1. The jumper block (J2) looks like this...

+.+.+.+.+.+.+
...|
+.+.+....+.+.+

The second set of pins has a jumper across them. I'm assuming it's set to SCSI 0 as that's what it was when it was in the machine. However it would be good to know what all those pins do in case there are any issues. This is the only set of jumper pins I can see on the drive. Thanks.

I think a L42C1 is just a

Thanks. I saw that site before I posted but couldn't make sense of the jumpers. However, now I have a closer look perhaps they do make sense after all. I'll do some experimenting tonight.

I experimented and sure enough, that link pointed to the right jumpers. It took me a little while as I discovered I was numbering them from the wrong end (-:

Thanks

Glad it worked. It does have an Apple ROM on there, somewhere, right ?

Unsure, but it did come from a Mac Classic II and was working. I've sealed it all up now in it's external case (plus I'm not at home) so I can't take a look.
