beggining of this academic year, 3 out of 4 of the largest ICT suites were upgrade, flatscreen monitors and new computers. However, the computers are behind a board so I never see them. Last week one of the technicians was fiddling about with something, when I saw that instead of units, there was a row of bare micro ATX boards, with just a network connection and a USB cable. I cant remember if there was an HDD. My GNVQ classes take place in ICT 4, the last one to be upgraded. It has some old, old celerons in awful condition, half of them dont work. They wont be upgraded in my stay at school, I have less than a year left there. My point is, is this a common occurence now? scrapping base units for just a plastic square with a load of wires? I couldnt see a PSU, just a long row of Micro ATXs all along the length of the wall where the panel had been taken off, mind you, I didn't get a good look, the technician scares me
