Heh! I just heard, on the TV Guide channel, the announcement about the death of Aaron Spelling, on Friday, at the age of 83. The commentator noted that the death 'came as a shock to the Hollywood community'. Excuse me? How much of a shock can it be, when an octogenerian keels over? Did TV Guide expect him to live forever?

LOL, they say that about everyone. When James Doohan passed away, the media said they were "shocked"
As if they believe money can buy eternal life.
They(the media jerks) are just pissed because they are just as mortal as we are.

Well, either you can be sick for a long time and slowly fade away, or you can get a sudden illness like a heart attack and be gone in minutes. Or you can be shot or in other way killed of course. I think the two latter, when other people (and you as well!) didn't see it coming makes it a "shock", no matter if you die at the age of 23, 83 or 103.
