Just got me some new parts to build a new engine for the 83 silverado.

Theres a bunch of other stuff I forgot to take images of.
I also baught a ring expandaer to put the rings on the pistons and a ring compresser to put them in the cylinder shafts.
I am borrowing a valve spring compressor tommorrow as well.
I should have it built soon.

Kewl! What is the camshaft (lift, duration, etc)? Stock 305, or what (I can see it's cast-iron)? What else didja do with the valvetrain (heavier springs, oversize (or sodium-filled) stems)?
Didja have the mains redrilled to four-bolt (looks like two, from the pix)? Steel crank (looks like cast-iron)? Balanced?? Blueprinted???
Y'know, the big problem with those aftermarket all-steel timing gearz is that they tend to streach the chain, rather than stripping the plastic gear. Ever seen a 350 with a groove cut through the oilpan from a streached chain dragging across it? I have! (Saw the same thing onna Toyota once too).

Like I've always said, ya gotta build your engine from the bottom up. After you've covered the basics, then you can start to build-up the top-end.

BTW, the 'I forgot' parts are motor-mounts...

For the record, the place to start is with 4-bolt mains, steel crank & cam, (balanced & blueprinted)...then start to work on the top end, beginning with the valvetrain, and working up to (eventually) the fuel-delivery system. (Too many timez, I've seen some kiddie hang dual-quadz, a tunnel-ram & off-the-shelf headderz onto hiz engine, only to blow the whole works out the lower end because it wazn't beefed enough to handle the extra power.

I aint looking for 400hp, I just want this engine to run smooth.
I am grinding the block out for a 350 crank next week to make a 327 stroker. I using the 305 connecting rods so I dont need to switch heads.
The cam is 2 points over stock.
I am using stock springs, lifters, rockers and push rods.
I want about 300hp out of this with the headers I am using and new edlebrock carb(500cfm)
