Sorry if this has been covered before, but I'm not able to figure out which floppy and hard discs are used in the Compaq Portable 2 (the IBM 286 clone)? Also, does the Compaq Portable 2 use the same keyboard construction with the foam backed keys?

I also need to get a copy of the Compaq Portable 2 setup disc or discs. If we can locate the setup program, we can get the computer up and running again.

Thanks much.

There is a service manaul [here (http://www.minuszerodegrees.net/manuals.htm)].
Chapters 1.4 and 1.5 provide the geometry of the supported hard drives.
Chapters 1.6 through 1.8 list supported floppy drive types.

I don't know. Someone else will have to answer that.

They are available via links on the web page [here (http://oldcomputers.net/compaqiii.html)]. The disks are suitable for the Portable II as well as the Portable III (as well as a lot of other Compaq machines).
