hello i am new to this forum and i need some help regarding my ergolite sl486

i am rebuilding this old pc
and i have a few problems
1st one is of course a dead bios battery

the second one is the tape drive i got with it

the tape drive is a maynstream 20
and the scsi card in the pc is a Maynard Electronics Tape-interface-card PC-TYPE I

for the tape drive i have some drivers
but the tape interface card
i dont know how to set the jumpers
and i dont have the drivers

can anyone help me configer these settings?

Here is a pic of the Maynard PC1 that has settings silkscreened on the card next to the jumpers. That card is only for a tape drive, won't do SCSI.

Usually, there aren't drivers per se for QIC-02 interface drives (like your Maynard), but the "drivers" are incorporated into a backup utility, like Sytos. I think NT4 backup also understood QIC02. Older versions of NetBSD have QIC02 support (as a regular drive) also. Your drive uses DC600A carts.

There's very little in a QIC02 controller; it's basically a bus interface, like an IDE adapter.

how do i connect this unit to my mayn stream 20
and get it to work

i found a compac floppy that should have the drivers

but it only holds 2 flies caled tape
and loading them does nothing (it asks for more files)

i am still looking for the drivers of the maynstream 20

my floppy that did hold the driver is empty
and i kind of need it
