Never seen a mouse like this. What sort of device is this?

The base says "e6q mouse r35"

The mouse says "Z-NIX INC."

Thx!

It is a wireless mouse using infrared. The base is both receiver and recharging station. There are different bases which connect to different systems like PC and Mac.

I have the exact same mouse. Is is really charging over the serial port?

I bet they don't work very well (sensors have to be in the line of sight of each other).

seeing as most desks would be line of sight anyway, i bet that sucker works great, provided it holds a charge

There are two batteries--one in the mouse and one in the stand. The one in the stand recharges (slowly) from the system power while you're using the mouse. When the mouse is in the stand, both recharge (slowly). If the mouse battery runs down, you can swap it for the one in the stand.

So it really is charging over the serial port? What a hack.
