Just won this auction:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Commodore-116/190980945112?_trksid=p2045573.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3 D1%26asc%3D27%26meid%3D3078123668581949331%26pid%3 D100033%26prg%3D1011%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D161 158379856%26

I had always thought C116s were quite rare -- there was next to no activity on this auction at all, hardly had to break a sweat to swipe it. Have values changed recently or something? I'm thinking maybe it was a bug with the way he titled it -- wasn't easily searchable? Not complaining!

I was monitoring that auction because I was really curious to know how much a 116 can be priced (I wasn't interested to bid, since I already own one) :D
I also think you get it for a (relatively) low price and without a big fight around it. I believe I paid mine about 50 euros many years ago; and you win the auction for an equivalent price of about 55 euros. I don't know if the "vintage war" is slowing down or, simply, you had luck. But, enjoy it, it's a cute (and very small!) computer, and probably the biggest flop of Commodore ;-)

Ebay is weird sometimes. You'll get into a dogfight over, say, an apple iii, and then someone puts one up with a buyitnow price just below that and it sits untouched for days. But overall I think there has been a levelling out price wise. I remember unexceptional IBM 5150s going for $600+ back in the day.. now people seem to have smartened up.

I've always wanted a c116.. ever since I heard about them. I think secret weapons of commodore uses the term 'extremely rare' describing them. And ive been in forums with big Commodore collectors who claimed even they didnt have one. I don't know how they could be *that* rare.. I think they were still produced into the 10s of thousands? But yeah.. based on what id read.. I was expecting a big fight.. but yeah.. kinda fizzled. But that works for me! :)

Worst day to end an auction. Check out my site I have a thread about converting a c116 to ntsc / 64k.

Excellent grab! Interesting, seems to be a collector offloading stuff from the previous auctions. Just that pesky boxed +4 that they can't sell for $40 for a few weeks.

Yeah I'm pretty stoked! Never had anything that was somewhat rare before. Just got to invest in a PAL to NTSC converter (I think that'd be fine rather than modding it?).

C16 are not that common either and one sold for $56 shipped in original box.

Maybe people are just tapped out saving money for Christmas or in the hospital for broken bones fighting over $.29 Wallmart towels and couldn't bid.
