View Full Version : Serial Card failure

Yesterday I was working with my IBM XT, transferring data from some newer machines to the XT via my serial port and some Basic programming I had written. The XT uses an AST I/O Mini II and the card failed. I could not get either COM1 or COM2 to work at all! So, looking through the stuff I have I found a couple other ISA port cards, but do not have the settings data for the jumpers. I have ID'ed one card and it is an Everex PWA00021, it has a serial and a parallel port and looks like it can handle a second serial port. It has a 8 position DIP switch and a bunch of jumpers. I looked on the web, but could not find any info on the settings. Can anyone point me in the direction of finding the settings for this card?
I also have a SIIG serial/parallel ISA card (with a game port), but can't Id it. Can anyone help with this card?

I'd appreciate any help, Thanks

Well.... I figured out that the SIIG card is a JJ-A21142. But still can not find a manual or any doc's on this card. It does have a provision for a second serial port.

Well.....after searching around in this forum I think I found the Everex stuff. Someone posted
EV-170/170A --> http://stason.org/TULARC/pc/io-cards/E-H/EVEREX-SYSTEMS-INC-Multi-I-O-MAGIC-I-O-EV-170-170A.html
And this has the stuff for the Everex card. I'm off to see it this thig works. Thanks

This is the stuff I was looking for. I'd still like to find the SIIG manual, but I'm off to see if the Everex card works.
Thanks

Isn't this (http://www.uncreativelabs.de/th99/i/S-T/50993.htm) your SIIG card? (About 2 minutes worth of looking on th99).

Yea, silly me, I went by the pictures. Next time, I'll just look for "SIIG" cards. :)

Still recovering from the holiday--and Christmas is looming large...

Still recovering from the holiday--and Christmas is looming large...Up here we decided to have ours in October (OCT 13th this year) so we'd have more time to recuperate ;-)

Yes Sir! Thanks Chuck, this is the card. By the way I have the Everex card working like a champ and I'm back in business. I kind of liked the AST I/O mini II card, maybe I can find a different one (becuase of the clock). By the way I am one of those that do not know what 'TH99' is. Thanks
