View Full Version : 5151 monitor and CGA card?

Hi, in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7z69gJ821T4#t=233 guy is running pacman game on IBM 5151 monitor, but pacman needs CGA card as i know and CGA card is not compatibile with 5151. Where is the trick?

Some of the fancier cards, like the ATI Small Wonder, can emulate grayscale CGA on an MDA monitor by flickering the pixels at various rates to simulate different shades of gray (or green or amber), and can emulate MDA on a CGA monitor by using interlacing to double the resolution and get all 350 lines on what would normally be a 200-line monitor.

I'm pretty sure he got an ATI Small Wonder/Graphics Solution in there, or something equalent. Notice how the display "flicks" just after 2:30 when the card changes to CGA graphics emulation.
