I'm rebuilding an old Tandy 1000FD, and I've collected a lot of information on them.

If you have any questions, I'll try to answer them.

Be sure to check tvdog's "Tandy 1000 Archive." It has lots of info on the 1100fd, including images of the dos/Deskmate disks.

Hi, I would appreciate knowing where I can get a 720k floppy drive to fit my 1100FD. I bought it off ebay, but the disk drive does not work. Thanks, Mary

You probably just need a drive belt for it. If there's a shop near you that repairs VCRs, you can take the drive to 'em and have it fitted for a belt. In a pinch, a rubber band can be used for a temporary fix, although it may still be a little glitchy.

I wasn't sure how to go about this. I bought it on ebay and the floppy drive did not work. I took it apart and discovered it needed a rubber-band type thing. I decided it was more work than worth it. I have the Radio Shack manual and the 1100 manual. I will give it free to anyone who wants it, if they will pay postage. It is all apart right now. It worked fine except for the drive. I would estimate the shipping would be about 10.00. I just don't want to throw it in the trash. I hope I have not violated any rules by making this offer. Thanks, Mary

No prob with the rules, we don't actually have a specific forum for freebies (although mebbe we should). Give-aways are usually posted in the For Sale / Trade page, but we aren't that strict. BTW, if no one has claimed this item in the next couple of days, I'm interested (even though I just sold mine about a month ago on eBay (only got 15 buck$ for it)). I don't mind rescuing another tho, if the dumpster is the alternative.

are there 2 floppy drives in it? and if so does the other one work?

Never mind. I was thinking about spare parts, but I was getting models confused. Mine's a 1400.

It's yours if you want it. I'll ship it the cheapest way possible. I will include the two books I mentioned. It also has the power supply. My email is writeandrevise@hotmail.com. Thanks, Mary
