I have a PC and a ATI Mach 8.
I set the MB dip to no monitor.
I checked the 8/16 bit jumper on the card.
No picture or signal whatsoever.
What am I forgetting?

What BIOS version do you have? Early 5150 BIOS versions don't do BIOS extensions.

My guess is that the VGA BIOS isn't 8088 compatible. Most of my cards - even those with an 8 bit jumper option - do not work with 8088's, but they will work fine if I upgrade the CPU to a NEC V20.

I think the "8 bit" setting was really to allow 286/386 users to utilize an 8 bit slot, rather than actually being PC or PC XT compatible. But I don't have your model of card, so it's just a guess.

REALLY?!
I had just swapped out the V20 for authenticity!!!
I'll try putting it back and seeing if that works!

Edit: NOPE. Still NG.
Rom ver.:U33=1501476 makes it 10/27/82.
Bios extensions=Yes & Has a HD.
NEC V20 now installed.

Video card is: ATI Mach 8 (ALL RAM populated)
P/N 1021111550
Bios:Gfx U/V 11301115150 (c) 1992
Upper chip: ATI 38800-1, 1568F0002
Lower chip: ATI 28800-6 PN2200288006
Jumper between chips, open (1MB, 1.5MB??)
Ju1, lower two closed (8 bit mode)
6 pin Ju3 at bottom right, nothing closed (unknown, 1 hanging jumper on 3rd pair bottom)

I can't be sure for your card, but yeah my V20 XT's will take almost any of my VGA cards :S
But my 8088 machines wont have a bar of it.

Unfortunately, this is not an XT, just a PC-2.
And even with the V20 chip, she no go (yet?)
Fully expanded with sixpack plus (640K)
REALLY wanted to go flat screen, will trade EGA monitor and working EGA card for a viable solution.

You can try different VGA cards. Some are really easy to find. Known working 16-bit cards in an 8-bit slot are TRIDENT (need to be jumpered) and OTI (auto sensing).
