I just got my hands on an Archive 5945C (http://bitsavers.informatik.uni-stuttgart.de/pdf/archive/20271-001_scorpPrDesc_Mar84.pdf) QIC-36 drive with (I think) an EAX6GP-SC400S controller card for my XT and it all seems to still work properly.

But now the question is; what software will work with this drive? The old Miniscribe 3425 in this thing is nearing 30 years old and it would be pretty nice to put this thing to work and run some backups without floppy disk gymnastics or having to hack together a rig to transplant the drive into.

I can't find much mention of the drives themselves in any magazines scanned to Google books, and I'm not really sure where to start looking. I would be quite grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.

I have a similar one (http://bitsavers.informatik.uni-stuttgart.de/pdf/archive/20271-001_scorpPrDesc_Mar84.pdf) bookmarked, it seems to focus mostly on the hardware side rather than the software, unless I missed something.

SYTOS was the usual tape backup software back then. I've used it with Caliper, Cipher, Tandberg and Wangtek QIC drives.

There should be the software floating around the web, somewhere. It was very common.
