HP is charging for a CD to support one of their printers?

Can't you simply download the software from HP's web site?

USB printer port drivers seem specific. Which model printer? Are you trying to get it working on XP or another OS

From what I remember HP charges for the CD but you can download most for free

I d.l nd tried every driver for the .
hp laserjet 3005 none work with xp.
I asked the original owner if he till had the cd.
it is remotely possible that tho the printer onlyu has usb and an ethernet port that something internally is set wropng.
I suppose an adapter might work. I will try that next.

I googled "hp 3005 laserjet" and the very first result is "Drivers and Downloads", and once you go there, you can pick XP as the operating system and there is a link for the driver.

A friend with bettervision helped me re set the printer to english.
he may have neglected to set the port correctly.
I cannot read a printed page any many visual things are beyone my ability to deal with.
but I will try again
and also for $3.85 bought a db25 to usb adapter
I already had a centronics to usb for a previous problem with anothert pcv Z( no parallel port)
I am curious what driver the win 98 pII300 will find. HP lasserjets are backward compatible.
meaning if you have a lj 2000 and an older pc running a dos database, just pick the newest hp laserjet on the list and it will correctly run the newer printer
BUT just up to the capabilitires of th software not the capabilities of the printer.
we rtan wa4 ( dod based flat file database)I had the updaye disk and the newest was a ljIII.

but I had the lj 2000, but it printed labels just fine

it is useful to know this,
I do not know if you vcan run an inkjet that way with a vintage pc.
the lj 2000 is dos compatible.,

after the adapter db25 to usb arrived in the mail, i found i needed anoter cabkle adapter,
so the originbal printer cable did not get misplaced, i plugged itr in.
after I rtestarted the computer " foiund new hardware" appeared, I took a copy of the driver and pu it in thge c drive. the pc looked and installed the printer.
why it waited several weeks, I do noy iunderstand.
