View Full Version : Flyback substitution

It appears true that the upper half of my ModGraph GX-2000 terminal was indeed commissioned by Ampex. It was manufactured by Sung Wei.

I've never actually replaced a flyback before. Is anyone familiar with these part numbers, or, have an idea if these are similar enough? The BS-1101 is the correct but bad part, and the BL-1001 is the new part.

Well, the voltage may be a tad high, but it works good enough. Good enough to keep the terminal in use and out of the landfill!

The flyback looks silly and is probably a lot less safe (why is anyone sticking their fingers there anyway?)

And here it is screaming along at 2400 baud with the inbuilt C64 software RS232C:

Well, as 2400 baud as that solution will get... :D
