Can someone here do me a BIG favor? Can someone record the sounds of a PC booting up? (Something from the early-mid '80's, w/ fan(s) & a loud HDD)

It's for my website (http://mtac.profusehost.net/). I plan to have it loop on my index page.

LOL, I really hate pages that do that kind of thing cuz I usually have my sound card on, at least at a low level. Drives you crazy!

I have a giant shoe-box sized Seagate HD that makes some pretty awesome sounds when it spins up if that works.

Type IBM 5160 into YouTube, I have a couple of videos of my XT booting up there :)

Ah, so those are YOUR videos! I watched these a LONG time ago!

Vlad, I wouldn't mind hearing that drive, if you can record it! :p

EDIT: Dongfeng, your videos seem to have too much noise from the other computers, & from the camera moving around itself. It doesn't seem like a likely candidate. Sorry...

Ok. I'll be gone all day tomorrow, so I'll probably get to it monday.

Go to my site (In my sig), I was able to find something good. I don't plan to keep the current MP3 file there; hopefully Vlad's will be better...

I have software I use to remaster MP3's and such, I can do noise removal and all that good stuff. I can make it sound nice, but remember, this is just a goofy sounding Hard Drive.....

No, remember, white noise is what I WANT!:p

Just send me a raw unedited WAV or MP3 file, I'm pretty good at GoldWave.

Vlad, did you ever get around to recording that drive in action?

Nah, I got busy then sick. I'll try to do it today. Its starting to have some trouble spinning, so I'll try my best. I found another 5.25 HD that I'll record too.

Hm, it is really difficult to record noise, in particular if you don't own a good microphone.
