What is the case of the 5160 made of?

I assume its painted over to.....specifically the top of the case, what is it made of and does anyone know the type of paint / spray put on it?

Looking for some info on this.

Thanks!

I do believe it's made of steel. Aluminum cases didn't come out until much later.

See if a magnet sticks to it is an easy test.

As far as paint, I'll let someone else take that one.

Yes, it's steel.

If the case is steel, your average store spraypaint will work fine, though if you want it to look nice you'll have to do a fair bit of prep work.

If you really want it to sparkle you can get it powder coated.

My friend took his to a car garage, had it sandblasted and powder coated, it looks minty fresh
