Hi everyone,
Thanks to PeterLI I snagged a nice set of vintage IBM PC gear. A 5160, 5162, 5154 all in original packaging.
The computers and keyboard made it over just fine but the 5154 monitor is trashed. The CRT neck cracked during shipping. Looks like the entire monitor was seriously sheared because the case is cracked in various spots.
I have another 5154 that blew it's power supply and I'm thinking of transplanting the electronics from this "new" one to the "old" one.
How do I remove the top screw covers without cracking them?
Thanks!

You can get under them with a small flat-head screwdrive and just flick them out with no problem.

The 5154s are known for having caps that easily dry up, so perhaps the old psu can be saved by a simple recap?

Hi per,
I am certain the old psu can be recapped and I will do that later this month.
Thanks for the tip with small screwdriver. Do I pry from the front or the back? (I am very paranoid about these old monitors at this point...)

That sucks bad. 5154's are not easy to come by.

Sucks indeed. This one was in mint condition prior to shipping, was in the box for over 20 years and verified to work. This was a bad Fedex experience for sure. I'm going to make a claim with them (yeah, I know, good luck with that..)

Thanks modem7, going to do the transplant this weekend. Wish me luck. Been waiting years to get a working 5154!
