I need to build a few databases and are currently looking at OpenOffice Base and MySQL front ends, however neither even come close to what can be achieved withParadox PAL (or DBase for DOS) with some relatively simple code. (Please do not mention Access, which was so poorly regarded that MS could never sell it, and so they gave it away for free with Office).

Give me a sequential language any day (like C), over the object orientated marketing gimmicks. Databases really went backward IMHO, with the shift to object orientated languages.

Anyone integrating PAL with HTML or the web/net in other ways?

AFAIK, Base is just watered down Access.

No! Base has no relation to Access. It is part of the OpenOffice suite, which is free and is thus also used by some heavy weights including the government of Germany, who do not feel it is right to pay millions in citizens taxes when free alternatives are available. Balmer tried to talk them out of changing, however he failed.
