Hi All;

I have a Tarbell Double Density Disk controller, and it never did work for me..

And so I am wondering, If anyone has one..
What Ic's do you have in yours and what Jumpers do You have set in Your Board ??
Especially the WD controller, mine had an F8877 is that correct ??
I know the Documentation calls for a 1793..

THANK YOU Marty

You mean, I think, MB8877A, no? Yes, it's WD1793-02 compatible, the added bonus that it's a 5V only part.

Hi All;

Chuck, Thank You for Your Prompt Answer..
Yes, and no..
The IC has MB8877 (plain), No 'A'..
Does, the 'A' make any difference in it's compatibility ??

THANK YOU Marty

I think the difference is in some timings. You can compare the datasheets for yourself: MB8877 (http://www.datasheetarchive.com/dl/Scans-052/DSAIH00041934.pdf) vs. MB8877A (http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/164827/FUJITSU/MB8877A.html).

But I think you're safe.

I recently sold one on Ebay. Here is a link to two different versions of the same Tarbell disk controller 1101D, one missing the 1771 chip.

Hi All;

Thank You, Bill, for Your Response..
Unfortunately, we are talking about a different Disk Controller..
You are Referencing the Single Density Tarbell Disk Controller MDL 1011..
And I am Referencing the Double Density Tarbell Disk Controller MD 2022..

THANK YOU Marty
