I'm trying to find a source for the drive isolators used in the Compaq Portable (1).

Here's what's in the system:

Barry Controls Duo-Plexx 7820-4 plate isolator

Here are the dimensions:

31326

A:16mm (15mm would work)
B: 35mm
C: 25mm
D: 1mm

Dimension image stolen from McMaster Carr

McMaster doesn't seem to have one that's this exact size. I suppose I could use some spacers to make the "A" part of the isolator longer, but I'd rather not fuss with trying to keep them lined up.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

-Jason

Shock mounts are available in a bewildering variety. Do you see anything here? (https://www.vibrationmounts.com/uses/electronics.htm)

I see things which are close... and almost $20 each :o

I'm still looking. Here's a better set of measurements on the one in the Compaq:

31331

l= 36mm 1.414” (this is a common size)
L= 44mm 1.75”
OD = 25mm 1”
t=1mm
a=10mm .40
A = 16mm .625
DM = 31mm

In years past, one of my favorite vendors of engineering findings was Small Parts, Inc. Sadly, they're no more, though I still have a few of their old catalogs. Wonderful things full of "what would I do with that thing?" stuff.

There seems to be another vendor still in the same market, SDPSI; Here's their anti-vibration product line. (http://www.sdp-si.com/products/Vibration-Mounts/index.php)

So to finish this thread up, I found all the pieces I was looking for, and mounted the drives in a way I didn't need more shock mounts.

Thanks!
