Hello,

I'm looking for an Adaptec ACB-5580 SCSI to SMD Controller board. It is from the mid 1980s timeframe, I believe. It was unique in that if you have SCSI-1 you can attach an SMD drive, such as a CDC 9762 disk-pack type drive and many others. SCSI still lives with Linux, and I have a SCSI-1 card driving two Qualstar 1260s tape drives. I'd like to add an SMD disk drive.

These boards seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth, though.

Anyone have one or know of where I can get one?

Thanks.

You might look for alternates from Emulex, we used Emulex SMD controllers on DEC and they may very well have some kind of SCSI-SMD controller. Just a guess, though.

Thanks Doug.

I found a few Emulex SMD controller boards available for QBUS and UNIBUS, but nothing in the way of SCSI-to-SMD.
