Were there ever any SMD controller cards for the PC? Add me to the list of those wishing to read data from old SMD disks...

You're going to have the same problem with SMD as exists for ST506/412 and ESDI - the low-level disk format is defined by the controller. Change controllers, you have to reformat the drive.

There was the Interphase Maverick SMD Controller, and you can still find them if you search the web. I ran across some for sale just recently. They ran under DOS on early IBM PCs, such as the PC-XT.

I had not thought about that. Good thing I keep these old systems around, everyone is always asking me why I have so much junk in my garage!
