My IBM 5160 XT works well with the USB Adaptor & CF cards, but I can't boot from USB ...
Booting from USB is supported by the adaptor but it requires a 27C256, I've got a 28C64 only but it doesn't work. So I bought many used 27C256s yesterday and I'll try these new ROMs tonight....

Good Luck ;)

All the info you need is in the main tread.
To keep it short, the boot rom on the china version is not wired correctly and the bios is almost unusable.

Thank you a lot for the info. Did you manage to boot it from a ROM? Can you give the direct link to the schematic? I don't know Chinese.

Thanks, I am looking for an assembled alternative to the lo-tech kit because I cannot repair it or make it work at all.

Thank you very much!:D
Now I have a 27c256 and programmed with the CH375ROMV1.5 modified, do I still have to mod the card with 74LS11?
And how about the 16V8? Need I mod the progam with "MA=!AEN&A17-16&HIMEM:01"?

Yes you need the 74LS11 mod otherwise you will limit your system to only 96KB
The 16V8 can stay as it is you only have to connect the 74LS11 to it.

Another option is to put the bios in another card with a bios rom socket

Thanks!
I made all works done tonight.
I tried v1.5 BIOS and mod the CHS, everything works well. I don't have the 96k problem, all memory 640k has been found, no hardware motification with 74LS11, maybe the card I've got is the updated version???
Here're some pics, I made a pysical switch with a 3D printer, so that I can select the boot device, floppy/cassette-Baisc or CF.
The switch has connected with the VCC pin of 28C64 ROM. So with the switching of VCC pin, 5v or GND, it could enable/disable the boot ROM.
The red LED is the indicator of CF-busy signal...
To make the 28C64 work, I pulled the /WE pin high with an 1k resistor.

Sure! Just click "Download" button in the URL:
http://www.wch.cn/download/CH375X86_ZIP.html

And I have succeed in booting from USB with a CF card reader & a 32M CF card.
I programmed "CH375ROMV1.5 modified.bin" without mod anything.
Maybe the card I bought is an updated version so I don't have to mod the hardware.
But I bought an used card, so I'm not sure if you can get the same version from other sellers...
Good luck!;)
