I have finally got around to putting my IBM XT 286 back together, It's been resting in peace's far too long, Something that's been bugging me all day is the build date, " TAL 86W44 ", I know it's Week 44 1986 but what does " TAL " stand for ?, I've googled and googled but can't find anything that makes sense.

The PSU is original, Week 43 1986 and has what i assume is a Re-work sticker stuck on top dated 11-12-86, The orange PG wire has been spliced and joined to a ground wire with a 100nF radial capacitor in between, It was a nice tidy job covered in heat shrink, Has anyone else seen this mod on an XT 286 PSU ?.

Thanks
Malc

Almost certainly a plant code. Did IBM do any PC manufacturing in Tallahassee?

I was thinking it wasn't that far from Boca Raton, but google says it's about 6.5 hours away and a lot of that is on the blasted turnpike with all those tolls.
