This picture is quite a bit older, but it conveys the spirit of the season in the North. (Note the wreath on the car.)

That is the great Mississippi River that the car is parked on. I'm still on the Minnesota side of the river.

Best wishes to all (except our spammy friends, who can rot in h*ll),
Mike

Merry Christmas! I think that box under the Christmas tree looks an awful lot like a box a Zune might be in...

Oh yeah, to all our troops around the world, and all veterans past and present...Praise the Lawd and pass the ammunition!!! (Sorry, that's about as much religion as I can muster right now).

Seriously tho, let's all remember those who can't be with their families tonight.

Some give all, all give some. War sux...hurry home guys (& others).

Me and mine will take a moment to do just that. It should seem obvious, I know, but thanks for putting the reminder out there.

I'm thinking of a song, from the American civil war era, called "The Vacant Chair". (what can I say, I like the oldies) There are a lot of families again this year with an empty spot at their table. It does the rest of us good to remember that.

Thanks, unfortunately there were many weeds to be seen today - not that I managed to pull one out (physically - not that a weed a day makes any difference).

I wonder though if keeping a weed tally of all the places I work would make for interesting data.

Merry Christmas from my old house in the mountains. It's wintery cold here but my son just called to say he is comming up for Christmas so I'm happy now. :)
We're having a couple of neighbours over so with my sweetie and the two cats there'll be seven of us. I hope you all have company.

Merry Christmas(or whatever you believe in) to all and have a great new year! I'm looking foward to another computer filled year with many more projects in it and I hope to share them all with the forum members here.

I'll attach some photos too. I don't have any of my car in the snow...When I go out when it's that cold all I have room for is a bunch of jackets and a pair of gloves.

Good Yule to all of you!

Hope you got something nice (in Norway, we open the presents in the evening on the 24th, but we got the whole day to look at them first).

Time was with most of us, when Christmas Day, encircling all our limited world like a magic ring, left nothing out for us to miss or seek; bound together all our home enjoyments, affections, and hopes; grouped everything and everyone round the Christmas fire, and make the little picture shining in our bright young eyes, complete. - Charles Dickens

Merry Christmas everyone!

Today is christmas in some cultures, so I thought that I'd make an entry in this thread to honour those places. Anybody here from Russia, or some other place where this is a special day?

To me it is the last day of christmas. In Canada we call it Epiphany. I've heard it called Little Christmas in some places.

In Denmark it is called hellig trekongers dag and its the day that we take down the tree. An old tradition is to burn it.

Same in Norway.
We usually have a pile of branches by our house. We put it there, and make logs of it when we got the time.
