Hello i have a ps/2 to serial adapter but connecting any mouse using it tried some ps/2 trackball and optical mice.
ctmouse.exe donīt detect them and if you move the mouse theres no response on the screen.
Using a regular serial mouse logitech one works fine, how i can use a optical mice in my serial db9 port ?.

You will need to find a mouse that supports both serial port and PS/2 port. There were a few models made in the late 90s that did that. If it shipped with a PS/2 - Serial adapter, then you can be confident it will work. I can't find a good listing models of optical mice with serial support.

Otherwise, you could drop back to an early optical mouse from Mouse Systems. Make sure to pick up the special pad.

I donīt know that the protocol was different always think that the ps/2 mouse port was just a serial port but using a din connector. I have found on ebay very cheap brand new serial optical mices including mouse pad going to get one of this.

The protocols for serial mice and PS/2 mice differ though they are similar.

Possibly one of the issues may be that current optical mice may need more current to operate than they can draw from the serial port DTR line so they don't even bother trying to make that work. I don't have any data to back up that guess.

For what i see the led in the underside of the mice power up fine the current that modern optical mice draw is even lower that the one the old serial mice need, seems to be other problem for them to work.
