Any advice on how to paint an old AT style case cover? The metal kind that is one piece and fits over the top and both sides. Sanding it / Priming It / Painting It is not an issue, but my issue / question is what do I do to keep the bottom of the sides of the case from sticking to the paper / cardboard it will be sitting on when it gets sprayed? If it sticks then you pull it up you get that messed up look on the bottom of mashed up or missing paint that can show on the bottom visual edges...

Pile of bricks, cardboard box, anything stable that will fit inside the footprint of the case and is taller than it. Set the case on it, the bottom will be clear of the paper and you can spray away.

Just don't use anything that the wife wouldn't want to get paint on it.
